I can imagine how most people who give this movie low ratings are turned off by the length and slow pace of the film. I think, however, that this is one of the film's key strengths. My 1 000th film(s) on Letterboxd!
This is my 7th Ingmar Bergman movie, and I was not disappointed. I`m not sure if I think this is a better movie than "Persona" but it is certainly more personal. I read or heard that apparently, he got the idea for this movie when he walked in his grandmother's house, and suddenly he saw a lot of memories from his own childhood.
