Woody Harrelson is pretty decent overall but I couldn't get past the generic soundtrack or the fact this can barely be considered a biopic due to its limited scope.

    Bo Burnham: Make Happy

This was not for me at all. Always nice to see my wife laugh at least!

    Can it, Boomer.
    Very ahead of its time!

  • The Boxer's Omen

    The Boxer's Omen

Film #24 of Hooptober 8.0! Hooptober complete!

After the first few minutes I wasn't sure if I had put on the wrong movie to close out Hooptober... boy was I wrong. Did they just blend two movies together? How did this get made?

Weird in the best way possible with some fun practical effects. This would be great to throw on for some background entertainment during a Halloween party.

  • The Changeling

    The Changeling

    Film #23 of Hooptober 8.0!

Very comfy and immersive haunted house movie. I really enjoyed the setting, production design, and ending.

  • Paranormal Activity

    Paranormal Activity

    Film #22 of Hooptober 8.0!

Very impressive use of a $15,000 budget, the sound design in particular was great! Unfortunately this just never made it past okay for me... probably because of the slow burn nature of the movie with a truly awful and unbearable character.

I would have really benefited from watching this in theaters for the full experience.

  • Thirst

    Film #21 of Hooptober 8.0!

    Together again in hell then.
Who knew I wanted a vampire erotic thriller? Surprisingly brutal movie led by fantastic performances by Song Kang-ho and Kim Ok-vin. The sound design was nuts, I can't count the number of times I physically cringed watching this movie.

That wrist cutting sequence and the bone breaking at the end came close to making me feel light-headed, crazy stuff.

  • King Kong vs. Godzilla

    King Kong vs. Godzilla

    Film #20 of Hooptober 8.0!

It's easy to look past the design/costume of Godzilla (he is an imaginary giant lizard after all) but there's really no excuse for how bad King Kong looks and acts in this. He's just so goofy!

I liked the contrast of the (real) octopus with the miniature set. And how can you not like the entire premise of an unpopular pharmaceutical company's TV show needing better ratings?

  • The Howling

    The Howling

    Film #19 of Hooptober 8.0!

Gnarly transformations and that sex scene really help this stand out among other werewolf movies. Good vibes with the setting and I'm really craving a hamburger now...

  • An American Werewolf in London

    An American Werewolf in London

    Film #18 of Hooptober 8.0!

I loved this one. Great transformation scene and it was really funny. The progression of the gore over time was a nice touch!

  • Bones

    Film #17 of Hooptober 8.0!

Great practical effects and a fun ride from start to finish. I didn't expect much from Snoop Dogg but he was perfect for this. Big fan of all the city of the dead / hell dimension type imagery and the ending tied it all together nicely.

I'm pretty surprised by how negatively this was reviewed back on release!

  • Psycho Goreman

    Psycho Goreman

    Film #16 of Hooptober 8.0!

I didn't think this was going to be for me but it was lots of fun! Basically an R rated Doctor Who episode and I'm definitely into that.

Cool alien design, great gore, and the commitment to the style of humor (even when I didn't find it funny) is appreciated
