Doublej2005’s review published on Letterboxd:
I was not expecting to love this as much as I did. There was one scene that stank of misogyny, but it only annoyed me because I thought they were going to go in a different direction with the scene. But overall this is an incredible film. The entire cast is excellent, with Bardem and Dench standing out as the best parts. The action is smooth and has minimal CGI, which I definitely prefer. I love the use of long, unbroken takes that contrast with the choppy editing of the previous instalment's action. The exploration of M's backstory is fairly different from other Bond films that leave her as a mysterious figure. The ending is both action packed and emotionally satisfying, and it manages to close out the film whilst also leaving enough open to explore the character further in future films. Overall, this is the best Bond film I've seen so far by a decent margin. Definitely check this out if you haven't already.
