    Arthouse A Star is Born.

    Masterful cinematography, but content-wise I feel like this is a longer film that’s forcefully cut down.  At least, this should have been a longer movie.  Hard for me to buy the passion as is, but I love that ending.

    Plato’s most famous allegory meets some Freudian ideas.

    Of course this is still uniquely Peele.  Like his previous film, Us is immaculately paced and directed, inviting the audience to think about some difficult truths and to watch the film a second and third time.

    There’s a TMZ clip that precedes the theatrical showing of this film in which Sestero calls Best Friends “a combination of Breaking Bad and Nightcrawler.”  Personally I’d even go as far as to include Blue Velvet into that mix.  Is Best Friends Vol. 2 anywhere near as good as any of those titles?  Far from it.  In fact a lot of the same issues I had with the first installment exist here as well: subpar acting, washed out looking shots,…
