Not only one of my all time favourite films but easily one of my top five most formative films. Returning to it tonight brought back all of the same feelings of seeing it for the very first time. I must have seen the film 40 or 50 times. Entire sections are indelibly marked in my mind. It’s a truly gorgeous film. It’s funny. It’s dark, it’s self conscious but never in an annoyingly meta way. The performances are hall of famers, right down the roster. 20 years on and it could have been made today.
