This will be viewed as a classic Stephen King miniseries. Much like Salem’s Lot, It, & Storm of the Century was. Masterful acting, directing, cinematography, & score are all on display.
A masterpiece.

I’ve heard about how ‘notorious’ this film was by critics, & even Lynch himself to an extent. However, I think I like it. It just feels like a David Lynch Film with a budget, but maybe not big enough of a budget. There are moments where the blue screen compositing doesn’t quite work, and some scenes where the matting is off. That being said, this movie has some incredible spectacle. The performances are all great, the costumes are intricate, and the sets are…

Pretty fun film. Cast was great, editing was neat, but the second act dragged a little. But overall pretty good.
Oz Perkins is a unique filmmaker. I’ve liked the majority of this film but there are some aspects that I don’t like. Mainly the Narration by Gretel, which I think felt unnecessary to the overall plot.
Also some of the acting isn’t the best in a few scenes. But I like the movie for the most part.
Side Note: The score Is stellar.
Director’s Cut Review
After hearing about a 3 hour Director’s Cut, I was skeptical. Not that it’ll be bad or anything but that I’ll just stick to the theatrical cut. A situation like ‘Apocalypse Now’, ‘Close Encounters: Special Edition’ , etc. where the film was already great and no other cut was needed. But I’m glad to say I was absolutely wrong.
