    The actors' performances distinguish this film and raise it above the standard achievement movie.Bening's acting was phenomenal, Jodie Foster was as good as ever and Rhys Ifans transcended his Notting Hill beginnings. Really, this is such an extraordinary story, it had to be told. For sheer doggedness, I don't think I've ever seen ever like Nyad's unwavering belief in her ability to achieve what on the face of it was impossible.
