Drew Gregory’s review published on Letterboxd:
I’m not sure what this is accomplishing that Greta Gerwig, Lena Dunham, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge haven’t done better. No matter how you feel about those three and the genre of “cis straight white women who don’t want to have jobs” they’re at least clearly pulling from their own experiences. This feels like it was made by the 40 something asshole who fucked the 20 something fuck up. Which is fine it’s just not as interesting to me and feels less grounded. Like why does Julie have no friends? Okay so she’s avoidant and flakey but wouldn’t we see her at least being a bad friend?
I don’t know! A lot of people whose opinions I respect loved this so I’m not sure what I’m missing.
