Saw this today in theater with my little sister, we really enjoyed it! Great message behind the storyline. The music is fantastic as well! This film is a moving tribute to the strength of family & community. The animation is detailed and vibrant, overall this is definitely a very good film from Disney!
Another Hayao Miyazaki film, another gem. This film has such a joyful feel throughout I couldn’t help but smile while watching. Of all the Ghibli films I have seen, this one might have the most stunning visuals yet. The colors are so vibrant, every frame is beautiful. The storyline is simple but flows effortlessly and the relationship between Ponyo & Sosuke is adorable. The ending felt a tad rushed, but that would be one of my few complaints. All in all, a truly charming & imaginative film, which felt like a breath of fresh air as I was watching.
Rewatched this today before going to see Afterlife tonight, this film still holds up as a classic all these years later. This is an absolute gem from the 80’s. Stellar cast who made their characters beyond memorable. This is just an iconic and timeless film which blends comedy & supernatural elements perfectly, plus it features one of the best theme songs in film history!
Before I say anything…….MASTERPIECE!
First of all the story is beyond captivating from the onset only to dive deeper into some of the most mind-bending storytelling I have come across. This film has beautiful animation & editing. For this being from 1997, the visuals are amazing & hold up against the test of time. The film has perfect pacing along with very well realized characters. The music is amazing as well. Satoshi Kon dove into matters of self identity, obsession, humanity & insanity…
