What happens when you try to incorporate the genius that is Phoebe Waller-Bridge and try to make it your own?
Well, the answer...is this movie. 🤷🏻♀️ Nobody can do Fleabag like Fleabag, and this movie unnecessarily overuses breaking the fourth wall to the point that it loses its charm. Having read the books (Sir ACD’s, not Nancy Springer’s) and watched the other Holmes related movies and series, I feel slightly bothered at how uncharacteristic Mycroft is in the movie. Cavill’s Sherlock on the other hand, was rather drab despite all the charisma Henry packs. The movie’s storyline feels rushed yet the two hours watching it seemed too long. I like the idea of Enola Holmes, especially considering how Doyle was such a misogynist, but I have to agree with the majority that this would’ve been better off as a tv series.
I won’t deny that it is a good comfort film though.
