Talk about throwing yourself into a role!! The film would have been eminently watchable as it is but Bernal's performance makes it unmissable

The cultural angle gives this its point of difference from recent low budget horrors but like a lot of them it seems to have forgotten that its supposed to be actually scary

Fans of Nolans big set pieces and effects laden spectacle may be slightly disappointed with this biopic of the father of the atomic bomb, but this may be his most accomplished work to date. Concentrating on emotion and character, but still employing Nolans trademark timeshifting, Oppenheimer is a film that will thrill and enthral in equal measures and the final act will have you thinking about it long after you leave the cinema

Everything about this film (from the acting to the plot to the dodgy CGI to the overblown score) screams early 2000's straight to DVD. A film that starts out with a killer set up then proceeds to dismantle it bit by bit over its 90 minute run time and ends up being a ridiculous pastiche of so many better films
