Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is miles better than Mamma Mia! in every way. The characters actually act like real people, it's genuinely funny throughout, and the (great) musical numbers are timed appropriately. That's not to say it isn't outrageous, because it definitely is — but it's earned this time. It's mostly grounded for how eccentric it is; and it has more to offer than just ABBA karaoke, although that happens to be very refined here. The visuals are consistently beautiful, and both timelines in the story blend well. Everything happens to flow so smoothly, and it only helps those bangers & ballads hit harder.
This obviously isn't a flawless film — but I had a fantastic time, and I was legitimately hooked from beginning to end. The emotion is there, and most certainly the fun.
