i just wanted to take another look at you
my thoughts are everywhere, but i came up with this so here you go: Jack or Ally, when the music was too loud, or when they weren’t paying full attention to each other, would ask each other to repeat what they said, or thoughtfully say ‘what?’. it’s a common thing that happens to everyone everyday, but i can say that i’ve rarely (if ever) saw two characters in a movie say ‘what?’ to each other and it actually mean something. it’s the simple act of listening which makes ‘A Star Is Born’ such a beautiful film. listening is such a large element of everything, the music, most obviously. but also Jack’s tinnitus, where he finds it hard to hear, but he tries, and pays attention to Ally. Ally’s voice, and how she uses it to make people listen. the fact that they want to hear each other, through everything. listening to each other, in their own ways, in order to communicate. everything in this film is a gift to us because we decided to listen.
and i know your story, but tell me again

original 30 mins after screening thoughts: i don’t know if my headache was because of the volume being so LOUD or because i cried my face off. Lady Gaga already owns my soul and now Bradley does too (i’m still trying to process this, will definitely update)
