Dylan Hastie’s review published on Letterboxd:
the lighthouse is one of my favourite films, so much so i have it tattooed on me, so knowing that eggers was directing a quite a larger scale film set in the viking era i was desperate to see it.
the northman exceeded my expectations and i got something so brilliantly crafted and perfectly detailed, having a film that seems like it is independent whilst showing of its long takes that just show how well eggers can direct action.
each scene is so important and having that godlike score with the best cinematography just makes it come all together.
the performances were brilliant i think i can see something worthy, i’m just not sure it’s likely, but when i watch this again i think i’ll have my mind made up.
