still remains one of the best [found footage] horror films ever; the runtime is goldilocks perfect and the pacing + plot will never let your mind linger. the last few moments get a bit too expository for my liking, but nonetheless it was still a brilliant ending to a brilliant film

do i recommend it? fuck yes, don’t watch the american remake (quarantine) and stick to this superior one instead

    I'm Thinking of Ending Things

it’s incredibly rare for me to come across horror films that instill “true” horror into my psyche; today that rarity has been challenged. there’s a raw sense of malaise present from start to finish, a feeling that resonated so strongly within me that i actually had to pause for a few moments to recollect

whatever you think this’ll be, i can assure you that you’re wrong

do i recommend it? yes. try getting high before watching this; that’d be a fun experience

  • Munchausen

the plot was nothing new but the way it was executed — chef’s kiss. wholeheartedly in love with the visuals and the scoring

do i recommend it? yes, it’s a beautifully crafted short film

  • The Strange Thing About the Johnsons

The Strange Thing About the Johnsons

absolutely uncomfortable to watch (a trait present in most of aster’s films) but it’s that same element that makes it hard to look away from. i both enjoyed every second of this while wishing for it to stop immediately

do i recommend it? depends. not for the lighthearted; proceed with caution (and willpower)

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

this could have been WAY better and that’s what frustrates me the most about this. it’s boring and unoriginal and 90% of the conflict could have been easily avoided if the characters weren’t as dumb as bricks

there are also SO many plot holes that i cannot even begin to list them all down (ie. you’re telling me they didn’t hear that chopper coming until it was directly behind them? but they managed to hear the choppers while they were…

  • Greta

it’s so difficult to root for a protagonist who literally has the emotional complexity of a cardboard box. this could’ve been a new benchmark but instead it ended up not offering anything new or fun to the genre

with that being said, isabelle huppert was phenomenal in this. she carried the entire film and if it weren’t for her performance i would’ve stopped watching after 20 minutes in

do i recommend it? only if you’re looking for something to pass the time

  • Ghost Ship

    Ghost Ship

i actually find comfort in consuming b-horror movies, but this was just awful

Do I Recommend It? — Yes, but skip the third act when it hits punk rock city

  • Deep Blue Sea

    Deep Blue Sea

this is so fucking stupid i love it

Do I Recommend It? — Yes, this is a great mind-numbing film

  • Velvet Buzzsaw

    Velvet Buzzsaw

critics say this is brilliant satire i say it’s a flaming pile of dog shit

i guess the right word for this would be ambitious? it wanted to be good but it just fell flat

tl;dr on the job pa rin mga ulol

  • Thy Womb

    Thy Womb

the best way i could describe this is it felt like i was watching a natgeo documentary.. but with all the exciting parts cut out so you’re left with the still (and almost boring) footage

if you’re looking for a well-painted glimpse into the badjao culture, this is a good place to look. the last few moments of the film were emotionally compelling, but since the entirety of the movie was shot in such a detached way, the gravity of the last scene didn’t hit hard enough to win me over

there’s a certain slice-of-life charm to it that i appreciate but maybe it’s an acquired taste

wow this was BAD i’m actually surprised
