Absurd and ominous.

This film is a bit ridiculous, but it works. The first act is pleasant enough, but then a sense of dread starts to loom over the story. It felt a little bit like a sinister and satirical reimagining of A Star is Born. They share similar elements, but Annette is still totally original and interesting. Adam Driver keeps turning out great performances, and this one is no exception. My favorite part is the ending. I thought it brought everything to a satisfying yet tragic end.
