Suspiria

Suspiria ★★★★

It’s impossible to not compare this film to Argentos original, but I was shocked and thrown off at how totally different yet strikingly similar the two films are stylistically. On the one hand, the new Suspiria is much less colourful, opting instead for an ominously muted pallete. On the other hand, the editing, zooms and sounds all nostalgically mimick the 70s style of giallo films. This is a much more sinister and terrifying beast than the original. It also a surprisingly political film, considering that the original was apolitical.

If you are itching to see something bold, exciting, scary and unique to film, watch this masterpiece of gothic cinema
