Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man: Far From Home ★★★★

After watching that mid credit scene, the only thing I could think about was the sad truth that we’re getting blue-balled by Sony and Marvel Studios and we’re (most likely) not getting the final film in the trilogy that would resolve the massive cliffhanger. It’s killing me just thinking about it.

I enjoyed this movie a lot, and honestly I liked the direction it took in terms of giving us a break from the plot-heavy predecessors in the MCU. It’s cool to see Peter Parker continue to navigate his way through life as a high schooler and I couldn’t get enough of the interactions between Peter and MJ or Ned. Also, this film solidified my stanning of Zendaya which I can’t really complain about.

Jake Gyllenhaal is Mysterio and he is great in the role, but I really appreciated his role as a filmmaker during the fake action-building sequences: this man is an artist, and I’m sure he had a blast “directing” the action in the lab.

As per most MCU films the cheese is still there and the CGI is ever-present (although the writing makes it clear that those involved in the filmmaking process are very aware of this), but that’s what you get with most superhero movies and I’m not really upset about it.

I’ll just leave it at this: I’m gonna find it extremely difficult to convince myself to see any phase 4 films going forward (aside from maaaaaybe GOTG 3) if I know we’re not gonna get Spider-Man as a key character, and even more so if we’re not even gonna get the conclusion to the Tom Holland Spidey’s story.
