Dune: Part Two 2024
Austin Butler’s the real deal, huh? He gives this film such a shot in the arm from the moment he first appears, and that crackling energy permeates the last two-thirds. A massive step up from the already pretty good first film.

Before Mickey Mouse: A History of American Animation 1982
Solid documentary about early American animation that largely consists of the those early cartoons playing out in full. On the one hand that makes it a somewhat shallow doc, since there isn’t a lot of context or historical discussion outside of the cartoons, but on the other it’s great to see those cartoons play out more or less in full, and thereby appreciate the inventiveness and sophistication of even the earliest examples. The Rosa Parks Story 2002
It suffers a little from the broad strokes approach demanded by biopics, especially ones that try to cover a great chunk of someone’s life in a short running time, and some of the performances are rough.
Angela Bassett as Rosa Parks, however, is spectacular. It’s a great showcase for a consistently amazing actress, and she really digs into the determination and grit of Parks - the scene when she finally registers to vote is immensely satisfying.
