these violent delights
have violent ends
like all the movies I love
I’m not a fan of genre, watched this for Oscar and Timothee.
I didn’t know anything about the story, never read the books so I found it pretty confusing but not boring. it almost seemed like a really long trailer, it’s very introductory BUT the sequel could be more interesting. And more emotional I hope, I felt nothing for these characters (except for when Oscars Isaac died but I mean it’s Oscar Isaac who wouldn’t be sad).
This way worse than I thought.
Zendaya’s performance is a copy and paste from the one in Euphoria (Marie is basically a grown up Rue) and John David is exaggerated and corny. The characters are despicable and there is literally no good reason why they should stay together. Every monologue is so fake deep and that’s not even the worst part: the movie hits rock bottom with all that whining about critics. Does Sam Levinson know that he’s NOT black?…
First time back at the cinema after the pandemic and I get an orgy scene with a shirtless Adam Driver? MY RIGHTS.
On a serious note, the movie is amazing. Matt Damon is irritating, I wanted to see him die too. Ben Affleck is absolutely hilarious and deranged. And in love with LeGris. Adam Driver at his hottest and his acting always stands out. Men are trash. Jodie Comer gives a terrific performance.
Between this and House of Gucci, this will be Ridley Scott’s year, get ready for it.
