Elliott Folds’s review published on Letterboxd:
My gems are cut, unfortunately.
This is an ugly, loud, sweaty opera of a movie, and I have to admire the Safdie Brothers for their commitment to their style. It's not necessarily a style that works for me, but I'm glad I watched it all the same. Watching Adam Sandler channel his movie star persona (for better or for worse) into this role is a bizarre treat (not at all unlike the performances Jennifer Lopez and Brad Pitt turned in in 2019, actually!), but Idina Menzel, Julia Fox, Kevin Garnett, and Lakeith Stanfield outdid him in my opinion. Menzel in particular is given the opportunity to say "You are the most annoying person I've ever met" to Sandler's Howard, and man, it's impossible to not agree with that.
Bizarre movie. Not my favorite, but I'm still thinking about it five days later, so that's gotta count for something.
