    This isn’t necessarily good, but it’s so weird for 1945. Bendix is basically playing Norman Bates years before Psycho, a man baby whose mother died years ago but he is still obsessed with her. By chance, on the same day he meets two women who remind him of his late mom and he does the only natural thing and ends up marrying them both.

    The scene in Jerry’s limo where Rupert says you don’t know how many times I’ve had this conversation in my head and Jerry says did it always turn out this way and Rupert says yeah is sublime. Of course a parasitic loser like Rupert can only dream of a conversation where he’s not rejected. He can’t even fathom a world where he’s not funny and charming and desirable.
