Evan Gould’s review published on Letterboxd :
This movie is intense and realistic (maybe?) and also crazy and goofy all at once. I don’t know why Fanaka didn’t do too much because he had a real weird eye for making movies and I wish there were more from him. I loved Welcome Home Brother Charles too. And is it just me or did Shawshank Redemption lift the Old Man being “Imstitutionalized” DIRECTLY from this movie? The old dude in this movie makes all the same points that the old dude in Shawshank put in his letter.
I take half a star off this one just due to it being a little aimless and meandering, but it’s still a fun watch pretty much the whole time. Real cool.
