David Lynch movies ranked: boxd.it/cinru
This movie has been heavily criticized by fans, critics and David Lynch himself and i disliked it too.
I knew nothing about the book or the story before watching and I don’t know much more now. The story and the universe seems interesting, but the movie never got engaging and I didn’t care much about what was happening, so this was a bit of a chore to sit through.
The acting was fine I guess, but their dialogue really didn’t do them any good and their costumes often looked ridiculous.
The movie had some cool ideas and designs, but most of the effects and visuals looked very outdated and stupid. There was especially one training scene at the beginning where they used some sort of full body shield and had a fight. The shields made it hard to see the characters and it looked like two big squares fighting and i didn’t know if I was supposed to laugh or what was happening.
I don’t usually do this but I would like to end my review by quoting another review by Janet Maslin from The New York Times, since I randomly stumbled across it and found it funny: “SEVERAL of the characters in ''Dune'' are psychic, which puts them in the unique position of being able to understand what goes on in the movie.”
