Kieslowski, who is not only a director but also a philosopher and a painter, “paints” with grace and three colors (red, green, yellow) a melancholic story of two identical women, who don’t know each other and are not related but somehow they can feel the presence and feelings of each other. The use of the touching classical music which is present in almost every scene, the incredible acting of Irène Jacob and the fascinating directing of Kieslowski puts you in a fever dream in which you are surrounded by art and emotions.
It was not even acting, it was something much more.
The real footage made this film even more horrifying.
Even though Florya lost his innocence way too young and experienced one of the biggest tragedies in global history, the only bullets he fired were at a painting. The painting of the world’s biggest assassin.
How can somebody finish this film with dry eyes? It’s impossible.
Honestly the most emotionally powerful and affecting film which describes perfectly the horrors and the tragic actions of humankind. Thankfully, there were some people that tried to prevent the massacre of a whole race and gave hope to the others. I’m unable to analyze it because I’m still crying but i strongly believe that everybody should watch this masterpiece at least once in their lifetime.
