My Coronavirus Binge List 44/150
What a pleasantly surprising delight this film was. It hooked me from start to end. The key is how it’s seemingly light, playful, Chaplin/Tati-esque, comedic world holds a secret tone of crime and injustice, as Hitchcock is so well known for. The use of windows to show people’s individual lives is genius, as is the names Jeff gives them.. Miss Torso, Miss Lonelyheart... speaking of which, Jimmy Stewart absolutely MAKES this film. He’s hilarious. The whole film is. The script is crisp, tight, and engaging. This is just the kind of film that makes me fall in love with cinema all over again.
