  Van Sant is so good at character. I’ve met all of these people before. I know them.

  Really good at showing how awful high school is, even before the shooting. The angst. The walking from place to place, noticing people. Getting in trouble. Sitting in classrooms. Sterility. Constant surveillance. Calling adults Mr. and Mrs.. Extra curriculars. It’s all so awful.

  Really love all that Van Sant did with perspective here. Always love it when you get to see the same…
