hepburn captures tenderness, arrogance, and a perfect level of ridiculousness in this film. she shifts from a gentle portrayal of a lady in love tortured by her own nature to a silly drunk in the blink of an eye. nothing has topped this gut busting, graceful, vibrant performance since hepburn delivered it in 1940.
