A gorgeous film. Icelandic geography is to thank for a lot that, but Lamb is a beauty regardless. The first chapter moves shockingly quickly before slowing down in the ensuing chapters, but those lulls pay off. The film is able to build unbearable dread in a moment's notice, sometimes with a single frame. The horror is mostly ethical, recoiling at the seemingly arbitrary manner in which humanity is assigned and denied, in which belonging is determined.
