Such a powerful, incredible piece. Close-ups of Monks' face covered in sweat when he gives his all to the music only to be shambled by the reality of the situation when the French tv-host asks him to play another one. SO INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING AND BEAUTIFUL TO WATCH AT THE SAME TIME 💔 this is an incredibly well edited film about the only black person in a room of white people, moulding him into a polished, sensored picture of passivity and peacefulness in a room that is everything else but peaceful. At times the situation is so absurdly awkward I couldn't help but laugh but in the end I left with a sense of melancholy and heartache.
