Emilio Miguel Torres’s review published on Letterboxd:
Was sort of nervous going into this rewatch because it was with Maggie. Luckily, she hasn’t broken up with me after watching it. Not yet, at least.
I think I enjoyed the film the most this time through. I’m giving it 3.5 stars because I still believe the theatrical release is weaker than the director’s cut, but I still enjoyed watching it the most this time. Unfortunately however, there’s not a ton left that I feel I can discover with this anymore. Which is a shame. Hereditary is one of my all-time favorites and kept me finding new interesting things through six rewatches, but I didn’t find anything new this time with Midsommar. Some of my previous gripes with the film became less bothersome this time, because I think the film just overall becomes more thematically and narratively sound after seeing it again, but it’s still just unfortunately... not that deep.
Cinematography hit extra hard this time though so, there’s that.
