Most relationships don’t end in a shower of bullets. Sometimes they just end, for whatever reason, and sometimes when this happens, they end before the love has a chance to die. And so you’re left in this weird liminal space where you’re so intimate with this person, know every inch of them, know what makes them laugh, makes them cry, but you don’t have them anymore. When you’re in a relationship, intimacy is comforting. When you’re out of it, it just hurts.
