Emma Hodge’s review published on Letterboxd:
I love investigative journalism films - the high stakes interviews, late news room nights, the emotional and mental impact on the journalists, and the final push to publish - so She Said has been one of my most anticipated of the year.
I don’t know if this film fits the genre quite like All the President’s Men or Spotlight, and it could’ve worked better as a documentary instead of a dramatization. It drags quite a bit and the emotional gut punches don’t hit. While most of the films in this genre tend to paint the journalists as heroes, this one gives the survivors who were brave enough to speak that title which is a good choice. I wish the whole film felt as crucial as the last five minutes.
