Very impressive and confident debut film from A.V. Rockwell. There are some great performances in here especially from Teyana Taylor and Josiah Cross, some of the scenes between them in the last act were heartbreaking. I really loved the score. Rockwell will be a director to watch , this is for sure!

Living 2022
Bill Nighy’s Oscar nomination is definitely worthy here as a masterclass in understatement. Having just recently watched IKIRU , I appreciated the changes made to make it the film it’s own but yet also it consolidated some of the things in the third act of IKIRU that seemed a little repetitive (but make no mistake the original is a masterpiece). So while this wasn’t as good as Kurosawa’s film, this kept me engaged throughout.

Notes from Melanie 2019
Highly enjoyable short film from Director Chris Stuckmann about a screenwriter struggling with his latest project and seeks the feedback from a fomer collaborator. I thought the chemistry between both actors was great, I enjoyed the special effects cutaway sequences. I have heard this has potential to be expanded as a feature and I’d totally love to see that.

Queen & Slim 2019
One of the best films I’ve seen this year, my only real complaint is it is probably could have went through another pass in the editing room, with a little tightening in the third act. But boy it features outstanding performances , visual style and it has a lot on its mind to say.
Got to see this with Daniel Kaluuya in attendance as he’s here in Cleveland filming a new film!
