I'm Not There

I'm Not There ★★★

Kaleidoscopic portrait of a character and document about an era, I'm Not There is an attempt to deconstruct the complex personality of singer-songwriter Bob Dylan. Through different characters, randomly intertwined stories and a non-linear narrative, Todd Haynes composes a fascinating and intense puzzle at times, often scattered and ambiguous, dense and ultimately distant. The narrative complexity proposed by the director can be an obstacle for those who know little or nothing about Dylan. An abstract, original, daring and irregular work; a chaotic journey that fails to excite and leaves me with the feeling of not being much closer to understanding (or at least being interested in) this man's life and work.
