Buffalo '66

Buffalo '66 ★★★★

Enjoyed this a lot. I had no expectations and it came up trumps. Gallo, both actor and director and writer is great at all three here, especially on screen. It's hard to pick an actor who isn't on form here though. Ricci, Gazzara, Huston, Rourke, Arquette are all fantastic.

The story is a pretty simple one but it's the performances and the way the film is filmed that make it stand-out. First time cinematographer, Lance Acord (Being John Malkovich, Lost in Translation) puts in, quite possibly my favourite work of his. This film has a fantastic look to it but it's also grimey, dull and washed out looking.. much like the main character Billy Brown, played by Vincent Gallo in this stunning piece of art.
