Feels very much like you’d expect when you think of a template for ‘Best Picture Winner’ The acting is the strength of the film for sure - Paul Scofield alone is worth the price of admission. The ensemble absolutely pulls its weight as well, but Robert Shaw stands out for his effortless embodiment of a hothead, playboy jock who becomes king. The rest of the film really just complements the acting masterclass - not much about the sound design or cinematography jumped out at me as I watched, though I did love the image of Shaw almost stepping out of the sun when he first arrives at More’s residence. Very respectable best picture winner.
