It’s strange for me to watch a film and not immediately know how much I liked it. I value having an opinion, hell back when I used to be forced to do volunteer hours for catholic school I’d volunteer to be the judge at the bake sale just so I can give cookies seven outta tens.
In the Mood for Love is great, but I still don’t think I have a grasp on it. A love story that omits all of the love and only shows the consequences of it, the atmosphere is chilling and at times left me in awe. I only wish I watched it in an intimate setting by myself instead of an auditorium fillled with film students who didn’t want to be there. Like seriously why show up to a night class only to text and send emails during a fucking movie you’re a god damn film student you like movies watch the fucking movie.
I want to live in this movie I want to find all of its secrets I want to feel every emotion it hints at. In the Mood for Love feels like a film that may become an all time favorite, but I need to let it come to me. The only other time I’ve felt this way with a film was Eraserhead, and that’s my favorite piece of art period. Anticipate me logging this film a few hundred times in the future.
