The roughhouse tension leading up to the initial sex scene absolutely verges on "Brokeback"-redux masc kitsch, oddly reminiscent of Andrea Arnold's "Wuthering Heights." We get it!! But beneath its gruff surface pulses a fierce tenderness, and grounded by a remarkable performance by Alec Secareau it blows open a wind-swept window into the seemingly secret world queer people can build between each other with just their intimacy.
