It treads the line between pathetic and masterful in every scene. And it demonstrates something really difficult, challenging filmmaking made accessible. Maybe slightly too grim and nihilistic, but boy is it something else.
I had decided I would not be immersed by this, that I knew better than that. Just the idea of this film makes me obstinate and cynical. I had decided Malick was not for me.

This is a full-blown masterpiece. A masterpiece that would knock over basically anyone with a heart. I will never be a cynic again. Not to anyone and especially not to you, Terrence.
Absolutely stunning, beautiful and weird. One of the most fully realized and idiosyncratic music documentaries, or maybe documentaries?, ever. Truth becomes fiction and imagination becomes truth.
Dylan has never been honest. Or has he always been honest? Scorsese's vision is to make something reflecting this Dylan and his persona, and he truly succeeds.
