The Night House

The Night House

worth it pretty much entirely for the deranged rebecca hall performance, chewing on every line read so hard it's like she's trying to eat a brick. moderately creepy too, it has one good visual conceit that i wish it used a little more. if this was what average middle-of-the-road horror looked like these days i'd be a happy woman. instead i think it stands out for how good it is at creating a mood and how unabashedly stupid it gets with a "mental health" metaphor that could have otherwise come across as corny. i had a good time! and i will be quoting some of these line reads for a long time
