Springsteen’s films are so ethically complicated, totally non-binary (or, at the very least, challenging binaries), and way more sophisticated than the post-westerns that wring their hands over pseudo-morality. Doesn’t have the burning (as it were) intensity of Hellfire, but the singing? Love it. Such a major underrated aspect of folkloric expression. Music can mean a lot to both individuals and communities alike.
