Ethan M’s review published on Letterboxd:
I could say a lot about TLJ, but in retrospect, I find TLJ the least offensive of the Disney trilogy, funnily enough.
The way the film treats its characters seems almost cruel, and feels more like directors bickering at each other rather than a cohesive plot being told. I'm absolutely baffled that Disney had no plan for their multi billion dollar franchise, that much is very apparent now.
Even if I think the execution is dodgy, I think the themes of TLJ at least are pretty consistent, which is more than I can say for the rest of the Disney trilogy. You can tell that this film had something to say, even if it was messy while saying it, and I can at least respect TLJ for having some sort of identity.
TL;DR Film bad but not as bad as Rise of Skywalker.
