It’s well made for sure, but I don’t think there’s anything here that hasn’t been rehashed before. It’s like the baseline anti-war film, not bad, but has been done plenty of times before. I didn’t find seeing the German perspective of WW1 to be unique. I feel like there’s a film I’d rather watch for every element this brings to the table, and it was hard for me to engage with the characters, making this a pretty dull watch. The filmmaking is solid, but did nothing to fill the emptiness I felt, so I’ll say this is slightly above average.
