Despite the fact that Carpenter puts the famous Snake Plissken through a surfing scene, a basketball scene, and a ridiculous hanglider assault scene (although all these scenes deserve the title of ridiculous), Escape from L.A. managed to be an extremely crazy fun action movie. It appealed to my inner child in that all of the aforementioned scenes take place and I didn't groan or complain, but I cheered. Snake remains the stoic constant in this cheese-filled Hollywood criticism. Kurt Russell never misses a beat and Snake Plissken remains the same cold blooded anti-hero, even when he's shooting hoops.
