Jonathan J.’s review published on Letterboxd:
I've heard numerous samples of The Holy Mountain in music and seen clips when it was put on in the background of edgy parties but I've never sat down to properly watch it.
As with El Topo I don't completely understand what Jodorowsky is going for at all times. It's a real spectacle though, swarming with abstraction. Even under a light haze of non comprehension it's fascinating to watch and decipher what this madman has constructed.
Goodbye to the holy mountain. Real life awaits us.
Four stars and two question marks.
