Mind the Steps! 1989
Incredible animation (rotoscoped & hand-drawn in black ink) with beautifully haunting music by Hungarian folk musician Károly Cserepes. The shot where a man flashing a woman morphs into the phallic imagery of a tank was cool in its parallelling of militaristic violence with the violence of everyday sexism. While there is little character or plot-development, enjoyed it for the vibes & the capturing of mundane day-to-day routine continuing amidst political turmoil & death.
