Jesse Snoddon’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is a very good action movie. However, as an entry into the John Wick franchise I can't help but feel as though it loses a step. Unfortunately it seems to be the case that the more things are explained, the less interesting/sensical they are in the John Wick universe. As well, the character himself seems to have regressed to more of a trope than the motivated and rounded out Wick of the first two films (which is perhaps unavoidable over time). Simply put, it feels like something is missing in John Wick 3. It's still a fun watch, and I am not going to be entirely negative about it, (as the primal and brutal violence achieves a strange level of disturbing beauty at points and the sense of humour is still present) and will say it is worth a watch but to expect some slightly diminishing returns from this chapter and for them to probably continue as the franchise moves forward.
