The Duke of Burgundy

The Duke of Burgundy ★★★½

This movie has a stunningly beautiful aesthetic that encompasses the entire film. The opening credits mimic 70s credits and the rest of the film reminds me a lot of Tom Ford's style. It's very clean and dreamy. I love how this takes place in its own world and doesn't feel the need to bring attention to that. There are no men and it's unclear if they're just not here or if this is a world without men, but it doesn't need to be specific because it really doesn't matter to the story. The movie simply exists as it is. My favorite part was easily the dream sequence. That's one of the scariest and most intense dreams in any movie ever.
