No one was expecting to love this less than me. The first trailer struck me as "Disney did JOKER but with Cruella de Vil." I have established a rule for myself, particularly with horror films lately: if a dog dies in it, I turn it off. So imagine my surprise that this movie has taken the most interesting route and re-imagined Cruella rather than do a bland origin story.

A manic, intentionally cartoonish blend of LOCK, STOCK, & TWO SMOKING BARRELS…

    Army of the Dead

An overlong, tonally inconsistent, shallow, utter mess of a film from a director who I thought was better than this. I was really hoping this would be a showcase for Snyder after he was finally liberated from pretending he had tons of genius depth in the DCEU. Instead, its a cruel angry pastiche of Land of the Dead and Spec Ops: The Line. Everyone in the cast is better than this and I weep for the way it wastes Dave Batista amd Matthias Schweighöfer.

    A Cinematic Mistake
Yes, this is about as accurate an adaptation of the musical Cats as one could hope for. But at what cost? Why Cats?
This movie is boring. The cgi is interminable. The singing is laborious.
This is a musical for perverts.
The movie is a choir of horrors.
    A Masterpiece of Trash.

A fiendishly inventive revival of the House Agatha Christie Built. I've been a fan of Rian Johnson since Brick and here he is, two years removed from making my favorite Star Wars movie, reviving the Whodunnit in a gleeful and joyous way. I hope Daniel Craig plays Benoit Blanc many more times. A true American Poirot.
